Series OHSAS 18001 ( Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems - Specification ) is one of the requirements provided for health and safety management system to enable organizations to control occupational safety and health risks and improve performance of the organization.
Malaysia by SIRIM QAS Limited has been involved as a committee in the development of guidelines OHSAS 18001 together 13 agencies from around the world , led by the British Standards Institute ( BSI 1999). Safety and health management system based on OHSAS 18001 series are more similar to the Safety Management System and Occupational Health (BS 8800). This system was specially developed for the welfare of workers from health and safety aspects will also bring positive benefits to organizations that implement them.
