Safety, Health and Environment

Safety, health and environment (SHE) is a field that involves various disciplines that require input from various major areas of engineering to improve the safety and health of workers, the community and the quality of the natural environment.

It covers various aspects of the ecosystem, the environment and human activities. These include small and medium industrial environment, agriculture, bio-system, the workplace, ergonomic disorders, mental stress reduction, physical and psychosocial conditions.

The SHE also is an important field for improving the health of people and safety of workers through improved quality of environment to be healthy and safe. These include air quality, water, soil and noise, effective harmful waste management and solid waste as well as various aspects of occupational health and safety of others.

SHE research field covers a wide range of human activities such as industrial manufacturing, processing and related industries. It includes the assessment of hazards, risk calculation, and the effectiveness and the ethical aspects of the response to crises and disasters.

This field also includes designs for the safe handling of industrial chemicals, disaster management, emergency plan and response to natural and man-made disasters, industrial safety, health and environmental management, hazard analysis, process safety and loss prevention and occupational health safety.

Thus, SHE should be emphasized in order to maintain the environment, processes and work practices are healthy, safe and prevent health problems that may occur as a result of the work or its environment. Furthermore, it also aims to improve the quality of the environment and bring awareness to ensure the health, welfare, safety and comfort of living in the present and future.
