HANDLING AND STORAGE OF CYLINDERS SAFETY MEASURES

  • Use approved cylinders with a valid expiry date 
  • Close cylinder valve when not in used. 
  • Do not tamper cylinder valve. 
  • Before transporting cylinders, always remove gauges and regulators, and install protective valve caps. 
  • Do not regulate pressure greater than 100 kPa. 
  • Never allow oil or grease on the wall
  • Do not place acetylene cylinders in horizontal position 
  • Ensure different cylinders are segregated, stored in an upright position and chained separately.
  • Store cylinders separately.
  • Store cylinders in a dry, well-ventilated location
  • Avoid cylinders in the same area as flammable substances.
  • Store cylinders away from stairs and walkways. 
  • Smoking is prohibited.
