Hand tools require the use of human resources manually to move, alter or adjust the shape of the material. Powered equipment requires the use of other power sources to move, alter or adjust the shape of the material.

Hand and power tools are a common part of our daily lives and are present in almost every industry. These tools help us to perform tasks easily which would be difficult or impossible without them. However, these tools can be dangerous and have the potential to cause severe injury if used or maintained improperly. Therefore, to reduce or eliminate the potential hazards, special attention toward hand and power tool safety is necessary.

  • Examine the need for grounding. 
  • Check for damage to equipment or containers. 
  • The length of the power cable to ensure adequate power cables uncluttered to avoid tripping or damaged
  • Use a good, which is only usable as planned. 
  • Ensure regular inspection and maintenance by a skilled electrician. 
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  when using hand tools and power (visor etc.). 
  • Practice good maintenance for equipment use.
  • Select appropriate equipment to work. 
  • Provide safety training for users. 
  • Provide safe work procedures for the use of equipment.
  • Follow manufacturer's instructions for operating equipment. 
  • Hold a scheduled maintenance program for equipment.
