Explosive Chemical Safety - When handling explosive or potentially explosive materials, some general safety rules must be adhered to and are ongoing practice.
- If possible, avoid handling explosive material in the anhydrous form.
- Do not use solid tools to explosive materials in order to avoid shock or friction. Use wooden or soft metal such as aluminum or brass.
- Do not store explosive materials in the container glass stopper or a screw cap.
- The use of explosive materials must be in the small quantity.
- Do not heat the substance can explode with oxidizing substance, easily oxidized compounds or flammable materials.
- Additional safety measures such as screening, face shield, safety glasses, neck wraps and gloves must be used during handling explosive materials.
- There inert compounds in certain circumstances may be firing even in very small quantities, eg liquid air or oxygen with organic materials.
- Alkali metals such as sodium can cause explosion when it comes into contact with water.
