Fire Safety in The Workplace - Fire will occur if there are four elements - oxygen, fuel, heat and chain reaction. In order to prevent fire, all these elements have to be separated. Because oxygen is everywhere, fire prevention is to control the fuel and heat, or to separate both elements.

Three categories of material that could result in a fire are:
  • Flammable
  • Combustible
  • Explosive

Method for Fire Hazard Risk Prevention in the Workplace
  • Adhere to all fire prevention instructions provided by the employer.
  • Keep flammable materials from sources of fire (eg matches, lighters) or heat.
  • Clean spills of flammable materials immediately.
  • Keep containers of flammable materials clearly labeled.
  • Keep flammable materials in areas with good ventilation.
  • Do not smoke when you are in areas with flammable materials.
